From his former role in the post-punk band Lycaon Pictus to his acting appearance on the Emmy award-winning TV show "Louie" on FX, performer John Christopher Morton is as eclectic as his creative background.
The Ridgefield, CT native first learned to express his artistic side while studying modern classical and experimental music at Bard College. After graduating, he moved to New York City where he performed as a DJ of electronic and experimental music with the legendary SoundLab collective, and also in the post-punk band Lycaon Pictus.
In more recent years, Morton has turned to acting as another way to express his artistic talents. He is quickly making a name for himself on the indie film scene and recently completed his first lead-role in the feature, “August Lucey,” playing a writer at an ad agency who quits his job to join a cult-like group that lives in the woods. Morton also appeared in the indie film “Frankie in Blunderland,” directed by Caleb Emerson, who also directed the cult classic film "Die You Zombie Bastards!" In "Frankie in Blunderland," Morton portrays an alien disguised as a Mormon missionary who is on a mission to repopulate the earth. Morton can also be spotted playing with his band Lycaon Pictus in the film “Girls Against Boys,” directed by Austin Chick (XX/XY, August), which premiered at the SXSW Festival in 2012, and was released in theaters in 2013. On television, Morton portrayed actor Daniel Stern for Biography Channel’s “Celebrity Ghost Stories,” and he’s appeared in a number of theater productions as a member of the New York-based underground Dome Theatre Company.
In 2015, Morton landed a role in the Emmy award-winning FX show "Louie," and had the pleasure of being directed by (and acting alongside) Louis C.K. while being beaten up by professional boxer Heather "The Heat" Hardy. Keep your eyes out for more appearances from John Christopher Morton on the small and big screens soon!
